International Tribunal will judge the Government of Bolivia for violation of the rights of Mother Earth in the TIPNIS
Fabian Gil, president of the TIPNIS (Isiboro Sécure National Park and Indigenous Territory for its name in Spanish) Subcentral, and Marqueza Teco, President of the TIPNIS Women’s Organization, will travel to Germany to report the violation of the rights of Mother Earth of TIPNIS.
The International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature will meet on 7th and 8th November in Bonn, Germany. The TIPNIS case is included in its agenda.
The complaint will be file against the government of Evo Morales for violating the Law of Rights of Mother Earth by promoting a road that crosses the heart of the TIPNIS. This road will cause great deforestation and the destruction of one of the most beautiful and preserved forests on the planet.
The International Court of the Rights of Nature will decide on this. The leaders of TIPNIS will request that an international delegation come to Bolivia to verify the situation of violation of rights of the nature and rights of the indigenous peoples of TIPNIS.
The International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature held its first session in 2014. This will be its fourth meeting to be held in parallel to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 23).
The Court is of an ethical and moral character. Its resolutions are of great impact since it is conformed by jurists and personalities of high international reputation like Vandana Shiva of India, Cormac Cullinan of South Africa and others.
The voice of TIPNIS will be heard internationally.
